Doctoral Fellow
Wouter Kreuze is currently pursuing a PhD in Digital History at University College Cork within the EURONEWS Project. His research focuses on partisanship and cultural identity in the avvisi. He wishes to address these themes through a multidisciplinary approach. For example by the use of linguistics and network analysis. The combination of methods from different subdiscipline fits well into his earlier studies. He obtained bachelor degrees in History and Italian from Leiden University, where he also concluded a research master in European medieval and early-modern History. His concluding thesis discussed the political use and abuse of the idea of Italy in the correspondence between the Sforza, d’Este and Gonzaga families. Furthermore, during his time as a master student he worked in the digitization project called “Vincentian missionaries in Seventeenth-century Europe and Africa” where he was responsible for the transcription of the documents. In 2017 he undertook an internship at the Royal Dutch Embassy in Rome.
